STORY：シュレックは、誰もが恐れる孤独な動物。ある日彼は、王位を継ぐためにプリンセスと結婚した いファークアード卿の依頼で、火を噴くドラゴンのいる城に囚われの身になっているプリンセス/フィオナ を救いにいく。道連れは言葉をしゃべるロバの「ドンキー」。なんとかプリンセス/フィオナを救い出し、 ファークアード卿のもとに連れて行く道中で、シュレックと姫は仲良くなるが、彼女は誰にも言えない秘密 があった、、、。

[Ext. Ridge. Day. With the help of Donkey, Shrek has managed to rescue Princess Fiona from the Dragon.]
Fiona: You did it! You rescued me! You're amazing! You're, you're wonderful! You're a little unorthodox, I'll admit, but thy deed is great and thine heart is pure. I am eternally in your debt. And where would a brave knight be without his noble steed?
Donkey: All right, I hope you heard that. She called me a noble steed. She think I'm a steed.
Fiona: The buttle is won. You may remove your helmet, good Sir Knight.
Shrek: U... uhh, no.
Fiona: Why not?
Shrek: I... I have helmet hair.
Fiona Please, I wonder'st look upon the face of my rescuer.
Shrek: Oh, no, you wouldn't... tst.

Shrek: What? That wasn't in the job description.
Donkey: Maybe it's a perk.

Donkey: (Laughing with Shrek) You think Shrek is your true love!
Fiona: Wait is so funny?
Shrek: Let's just say I'm not your type, okay?

Shrek: Look, I really don't think this is a good idea.
Fiona: Just take off the helmet.
Shrek: I'm not going to.
Fiona: Take it off.
Shrek: No-o!
Fiona: (Yelling) Now!
Shrek: Okay! Easy. As you command, your Highness.
(Shrek removes his helmet.)
Fiona: You... you're a...an ogre.
Shrek: Oh, you were expecting Prince Charming
Fiona: Well, yes, actually... Oh, no. This is all wrong. You're not supposed to be an ogre.
Shrek (Sighting) Princess, I was sent to rescue you by Lord Farquaad. Okay? He's the one who wants to marry you.
Fiona: Well, then, why didn't he come rescue me?
Shrek Good question. You should ask him that when we get there.
Fiona: But I have to be rescued by my true love. Not by some ogre and hi... and hi... and his pet.
Donkey: Well, so much for "noble steed."
Shrek Look, Princess, you're not maiking my job any easier.
Fiona: Well, I'm sorry, but your job is not my problem, You can tell Lord Farquaad that if he wants to rescue me properly, I'll be waiting for him right here.
Shrek Hey! I'm no one's messenger boy. All right? I'm a delivery boy.

Fiona: やったわね！私を救い出してくれたわ！すごい！ほ、ほんとに素晴らしいわ！正直言って、 あなたはちょっぴり普通じゃないけど、行いは偉大で、あなたの心は純粋よ。ご恩は永遠に忘れないわ。 それに、勇敢な騎士には立派な馬がつき物よね。
Donkey: ようし、聞いたろ。俺のこと、立派な馬だとさ。俺を馬だと思ってる。
Fiona: 戦いに勝ったわ。かぶとをとってもいいのよ。騎士さま。
Shrek: ああ、、、その、いや。
Fiona: いいでしょ？
Shrek: あの、、、髪に兜の跡がついてるから。
Fiona お願い。助けてくれた方のお顔を見ないわけにはいかないわ。
Shrek: いや、だめだ。見ないで、、、ください。
Fiona: でも、どうやって私にキスしてくれるの？
Shrek: なんだって？そんなの職務内容になかったぞ。
Donkey: たぶんオマケだよ。
Fiona: いいえ、運命よ。あら、お話がどういう風に展開するか知ってるでしょ。ドラゴンに塔に閉じ込められ、 ずっと幽閉されていた王女が、勇敢な騎士に救い出されるの、、、そしてふたりは、真実の愛のファースキスをかわすのよ。
Donkey: シュレックと？まさか、、、？待った、、ちょ、ちょ、ちょ、ちょっと待った。あんたはシュレック が真実の恋人だと思ってるの？
Fiona: あら、、、そうよ！
Donkey: (シュレックと一緒に笑いながら) シュレックがあんたの真実の恋人だと思ってるんだ！
Fiona: なにがそんなにおかしいの？
Shrek: おれはあなたの好みのタイプじゃないとだけ言っておこう。いいですね？
Fiona: もちろん、私のタイプよ。わたしのタイプよ。私を救ってくだっさんですもの。さぁ、、、 さぁ、かぶとを取って。
Shrek: ねぇ、名案だとは思わないけど。
Fiona: いいからかぶとを取って。
Shrek: 取りません。
Fiona: 取りなさい。
Shrek: いやだ！
Fiona: (叫ぶ) 今すぐ！!
Shrek: しょうがない！落ち着いて。おおせのままに、王女様。
(シュレックはかぶとを取る)
Fiona: あなた、、、あなたは、、怪物。
Shrek: ああ、あなたは理想の王子を期待していたんでしょ。
Fiona: その、ええ、実は言うと、、、あら、ダメよ。こんなの間違っている。あなたが怪物のはずないわ。
Shrek (ため息をつき) 王女様、俺はあなたを救い出すために、ファークアード卿に派遣されてきたんです。 わかりましたね？あなたと結婚したいのは彼のほうだ。
Fiona: あら、じゃあ、どうしてその方が私を助けに来なかったの？
Shrek いい質問だ。向こうに着いたら本人に聞くことですね。
Fiona: でも、私は真実の恋人に助けられなければならないのよ。どこかの怪物と、か、か、かれの ペットにではなくね。
Donkey: いいさ、これで「立派な馬」は終わりだ。
Shrek ねぇ、王女様。あなたのおかげで俺の仕事はちっとも簡単にならないんですよ。
Fiona: あら、ごめんなさい。でも、あなたの仕事は私の知ったことじゃないわ。ファークアード卿に、 ちゃんと私を助けたいのなら、ここで待っていると伝えて。
Shrek ちょいと！俺は誰の伝言係ではないよ。いいですね？俺は配達係だ。
Fiona: やめて。
(シュレックはフィオナを抱き上げる)
