1. In any kind of writing, always think about readers.
- Who will be reading your document?
- What prior knowledge do these readers have about the subject?
- What do these readers need to know?
- Why will these readers read your document?
- How will these readers use the information your provide?
2. Express yourself clearly on what you want to write.
- Do you think the reader will understand what you want to say?
- Do you think you have written your ideas and thoughts in words clearly?
3. Clearly state your arguments.
4. Support your arguments with reasons and facts.
5. Arrange your material in correct order.
2 Technical Writing
2.1 What is Technical Writing?
Technical Writing is a method of writing used by computer scientists, engineers, and other technical professionals to document their work and research activities (テクニカルライティングとは、コンピュータ科学者、工学者、そして他の専門技術者が 自分の仕事や研究活動に関しての文書をかくための方法である。).
The writing many include :
- 1. Memos, notices, and letters.
- 2. Manuals, procedures, and instructions.
- 3. Research reports, field trip reports
2.2 What are The Features of Technical Writing?
Technical writing is different from other type of writing such as writing letters to your friends. When you write a letter to your friends you usually use conversational style English. However, technical writing uses a more formal writingstyle of English.
The technical writing :1. involves with a professional activety.
2. is written for a specific purpose.
3. is for a specific group of readers.
4. presents information in a direct, factual manner.
5. is well organized writing.
6. usually follows the general format.
- Summary (Abstract)
- Introduction (Background and purpose.)
- Discussion and Description (Details and supporting data.)
- Conclusions.
